In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus faced a mighty contest between the spirit and the flesh, between saying “Yes” or “No” to God’s will. Hebrews says he is our great high priest, tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Jesus was obedient where Adam failed. He shows us how to be human, that prayer is central to our human experience and he is able to give us grace when we face trials and temptation.
